Quote of the Week

"There is no solution. Seek it lovingly"

I've found this very helpful during school when I'll be stuck on a design problem and just can't seem to find the right answer. I just tell myself that there is no wrong or right answer. This seriously gets me through a lot of tough times during studio!! I'm not sure exactly who this quote belongs to...I heard it from one of my professors one day and it stayed with me. Hopefully it will help you one day too :D Above is a picture of Brittany and I "modeling" Tadao Ando's beautiful concrete wall - an architect who seems to alwlays find the solution.

For this weekend's adventure...

...we went hiking up to Lake Blanche. We started early to avoid the heat (it hit 100 that day) and it's always well worth it when you get to the top. Beautiful!

CRUISE CRUISE CRUISE CRUISE

The title to this post is meant to be chanted to that one baseball melody that ends with "dada daa da daaaa". (Do you have any idea what I'm talking about?) This is how Brandon celebrates cruises is with this chant and with his arms in the air. I'm making this post for two reasons: First, because Brandon's parents just booked a second family cruise for next May and we are super excited. It will be one week after I graduate and never have to go to school AGAIN! Yessss. The second reason is because last night I was watching "Hopkins" and it's a reality emergency room show - anyway, they were taping a young girl who was a drowning victim and she was probably five years old and they felt it was necessary to blur out her nipples. So, I've never really understood the need for covering up nudity...what is it about the naked body that makes so many Americans uncomfortable? So, in tribute to the cruise and in response to the blurred out nipples, here are some pics from Brandon and I's favorite place in the Carribean islands (so far). Cupecoy Beach, St. Maarten. (P.S. I was totally going to post the one of Brandon looking out into the water with his bum bum showing, but he found it hilarious to go into photoshop and make some alterations to the picture so now it is forever ruined.) Enjoy.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Hola - so my sister in law Emily always has the coolest "Wednesday's Word" posts that I can't even compete with, so instead, I'm going to do a "Quote of the Week" post. For some reason, I'm always attracted to really great quotes. Sometimes I just search the internet for hours reading inspirational quotes about life, the universe, etc. So when I find one that inspires me I'll post it here weekly. So, there you go.

"What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset." - Blackfoot

This is the life....

Okay, so one day I was at work and I brought in some of my mom's jewelry and people go crazy buying it. I was explaining to one of my co-workers where Marysvale is and what my parents do and this is how the conversation went...

Me: Yeah, my parents live in a small little town called Marysvale. They live right up a beautiful canyon next to a stream where they have a cabin. They enjoy going rock hounding and going to rock shows and when they're at home, my dad will cut and polish rocks they find and my mom enjoys making beautiful stone and gem jewelry.

Co-worker: Whatever. This is just some fantasy story you tell when you bring in your mom's jewelry to make it seem more romantic, like they're actually in a cute little cabin in the woods polishing rocks and making jewelry by a stream.

Me: uh....no, seriously.

So, this weekend I realized that mom and dad have the life. Yesterday, we arrive from Vegas to pick up chica. We pull up the road and drive past the beautiful wildflowers that mom has transplanted all over the hill by the cabin and past the beautiful vegetable garden full of yummy veggies. We see chica prancing through the flower garden chasing chipmunks and dad sitting in his chair flint knapping arrowheads, while mom is fixing a gourmet lunch. We sit down to a delicious lunch complete with a glass of white wine and laugh and talk. Before we leave, we sit out on the patio listening to the river rush by and then enjoy a sudden summer storm that poured down and brought with the smell of fresh mountain air.

I'm moving to Marysvale.

Coldplay in Vegas

This past weekend we drove to Las Vegas to see my (and probably one of Brandon's top 5) favorite band ever...COLDPLAY! Woowoo! They were absolutely amazing and it was an awesome concert. Chris Martin forgot his lyrics to "Trouble" which was pretty funny and he was pretty embarrassed. We had a blast hanging out in sin city!

Yo.

It was very very very hot.

A cool new project on the center of the strip.

July 4th

For the fourth of July, we went down to the property and we had a blast! We went tubing down the Sevier River (regardless of the dead cow we floated by, we went twice), sat by the fire, sat in the hot tub, watched movies, went biking, ate yummy food and as always, had great conversation. We love the property!!

Bday Celebration

Asses from left to right: Brittany, me, mom and Meag (Tamara joined in soon after taking the picture)

For my birthday, we made reservations at Keys on Main - an awesome piano bar downtown and we had so much fun! My mom and dad came and friends and we had fun singing along as well as dancing on stage for my birthday to "My Humps".
Tammy blowing kisses.
Tamara and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Bohemian Rhapsody at the piano bar...it comes on and we just can't help but headbang.
